Race: White. Marital status; Married???? Age: 1 month. Cause of death: Seven more LLE child premature Birthplace: Michigan Occupation: not recorded Father's name: Vogler, Wm. Residence: Mich. Mother's name: Voglet, Flore, Residence: Bennington Date of record: 24-May-1882 Bonnie McVicar-Briggs reports that William came straight to Oakland Cty with his family at age 9. She was told that he could be found in "Germans to America". Per Bonnie, William was wounded 9-17-1862 at Antietam. Discharge record shows he was wounded in right leg, with the ball passing thru the tibia and caused diminished mobility of his knee. Classified as 1/8 disabled. Record showed he was 22 yrs old in Dec. 1862, 5' 5 1/2" tall, grey eyes, light hair, florrid complexion and was a farmer. Per Bonnie, newspaper articles written at the time of his death say that he was wounded during his 2nd enlistment and was captured by Confederate Soldiers. Confined at Andersonville Prison. His pension records do not mention Andersonville, but that he was captured at Athens, GA, Aug. 3, 1864 and confined at Florence, GA. Paroled 12-16-1864 and reported to Camp Chase, OH 1-31-1865, sent to (unlegible) 3-3-1865. Discharged 9-22-1865 at Nashville, TN.
