Notes
a. Note:   It has been proposed that Mary was a Womack, but there has been no evidence to support this. If she was, it would have been expected that a Womack relative would be appointed as adminstrator of William Rowland's estate to protect her interests. See notes for Nathan Rowland, father of William Rowland for theory.
Appointed Guardian to William and Nancy Rowland, orphans of Wm. Rowland dec. by county court (March 1797)
Wake County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions Minute Docket: C.099.30002, Vol 5 p.66 (June term 1800) "Tyre Parish comes into court and relinquishes his guardianship upon the estate of Wm. Roland which was formerly granted to Mary Roland now Mary Parish Wife of the said Tyre and the court thereupon granted the guardianship of the said orphan to Joseph Adams who came into court and entered into bond in the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds with Wilie Womack and Urias Collins Securities."
  the following entry:
"Ordered that Mathew McCullers John Whitaker and Walter Rand be appointed a committee to inquire into the estate of Nancy Roland an orphan girl living with Tyre Parish and what sum or sums of money are due and owing unto the said Tyre Parish in consiquence of his keeping the said girl and make report thereon to next court."
Then, May Session 1802 " Issued: Ordered that a notice issue to Tire Parish, in Moore County to appear at next Court and show cause if any he has why his Guardianship , to Nancy Rowland shou'd not be repealed."
According to records the guardian of Nancy was listed as Mary Rowland thru 2 Oct 1797; then for 15 Oct, 1802, May 1805 and 18 Feb 1805 her guardian is listed as Tyra Smith (not Tyre Parish!) There is a Tira Smith listed in the 1800 census for Wake County, but can find no Tyre Parish.
Witness on a will with Lewis Rowland is Wm. Tyre S. Parish: would guess that Tyre is the son of a Smith woman (his legal name) who later married a Parish man who raised Tyre: hence William Tyre Smith Parish

There is a Jyre (could be Tyre) Parish listed in the Muster Rolls for the War of 1812 in Wake County, and a record of a Terry Parish entering service as a Private and leaving service as a private.
