Note: The will of Benjamin Womack written Feb 18 1791 Cumberland Co, NC indicates as executors "my brother-in-law William Rowland" and son Wyley Womack. In the 1700's the term "in-law" was used to most often to indicate a step or half relationship, not the usage of today. Thus if Benjamin Womack's mother, Sarah, had married Nathan Rowland then he and William Rowland would be step brothers or "brothers in the law".
