Notes
a. Note:   The M, was on 1900 census. Buried at Whittaker Cemetary. Died after birth of last child. Bled to death. Nora bled to death minutes after the birth of her 6th child. She was only 34 years old. She was married to Felix Andrew (Drew) Fry. Drew had a nervous mental problem due to an earlier bout with yellow fever. After the death of Nora, he was put in a hospital and the children were dispersed among relatives and friends. None of them were taken by the Whittaker side of the family except for one of the girls, who was taken in by (Nora's sister) Pearl Whittaker Meadows' brother-in-law, Clarence Meadows and wife.(Source: Lesa Smith Walter, Great-granddaughter of Nora Whittaker). When we older children were in our middle teens, one of my mother's sisters, Aunt Nora Fry, and her husband, Uncle Drew, died leaving five or six orphan children. My parents took two of them to rear. Their names were Thirvell Fry and his sister Marie. They were about 11 to 14 years or age. Im not now sure how old they were. But there was never any difference shown by our parents or us children between them and our family, which was already large. They went to school and to the fields along with us children and did their part of the chores about the house. They adjusted beautifully to the requirements and responsibilities of our home, and remained in the home to adulthood. (Source: Cecil Meadows Autobiography)
