Note: He was a Farmer, Highway Construction and Saw mill worker. Virgil T. Manning November 26, 1892 - March 10, 1989 Funeral Service Monday, 2:00p.m., March 13, 1989 Officiating: Rev. James Manning, Grandson Interment: Manning #1 Cemetery Virgil T. Manning, aged 96, of Walnut Ridge died Friday at Lawrence Hall Nursing Home. Born in Sedgwick, he was a lifetime resident of Lawrence County. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. his wife, Esther Manning, preceded him in death in 1978. Two sons, Floyd Manning and Clarence Manning, also preceded him in death. Survivors include three sons Ray Manning of Rock Falls, Ill., Merrell Manning of Edmond, Okla., and Mitchell Manning of St. Louis, Mo.; six daughters, Virgie Kisling of Hoxie, Roberta Mosley of Walnut Ridge, Alberta Manning of Knoxville, Tenn., Ola Carter of Denver, Colo., Louise Thornton of Butler, Mo., and Gracie Anderson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 33 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral was Monday afternoon at 2:00 in the Bryan Chapel with his grandson, Rev. James D. Manning, officiating. Burial was in Manning No. 1 Cemetery under direction of Bryan Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Trent Sheerin, Donnie Sheerin, Mike Mosley, Charles Brewington, Scooter Anglin and Danny Ray Manning. Recent guests of Rev and Mrs. Felix Thornton included their children, Bill and Louise Thornton and family of Butler, Mo., Rosemary Peace, Melanie and Missy of Miland, Tenn., Pat and Glenn McManners of Jonesboro.
