Note:   4, and the names of her parents, Brinsley & Elizabeth Barns, were obtained primarily from page 347 of the "Encyclopedia of American Genealogy" by William Wade Hinshaw, Volume I, from the Quaker Monthly Meeting records for Cane Creek, NC Similarly, the name of her husband, Samuel Carter, and their children were also obtained from Quaker records as well as from the Will of Samuel Carter, dated 3 November 1802, Chatham County, NC Record of Wills, Vol. A, page 182. The names of the children of Mary & Samuel for my descendant records for immigrant Brinsley & wife Elizabeth were extracted from Quaker records. Also included is a document authored by Judge(??) Frank Carter, Asheville, NC, 27 November 1931 to the New England Historic Genealogical Society, NEHGS, which is identified at the NEHGS as a manuscript with call letters Mss C383.
