Notes
a. Note:   orth Carolina. From Hinshaw's Quakers Vol. 1, North Carolina From Mick Barnes: The name Anne, the birth date of Anne, 17 March 1744, and the names of her parents, Brinsley & Elizabeth Barns, were obtained primarily from page 356 of the "Encyclopedia of American Genealogy" by William Wade Hinshaw, Volume I, from the Quaker Monthly Meeting records for Cane Creek, NC. Similarly, the name of her husband, Stephen Hobson, and their children were also obtained from Quaker records. The names of the children of Anne & Stephen for my descendant records for immigrant Brinsley & wife Elizabeth were extracted from Quaker records. Anne is buried in the Rocky River Friends Church & Cemetery in Chatham County, NC. It is worth noting that the Quaker Church in the late 1700's - early 1800's required that stone markers for graves be replaced with wooden markers. This requirement was later changed and stone markers were once again permitted to mark/ identify the grave sites. Unfortunately, many Quaker cemeteries, such as at Cane Creek and to a lesser extent Rocky River, have many unmarked graves which were probably the result of the early wooden markers rotting away. Anne BARNES Hobson has the honor of being the first person to be buried at Rocky River. Her marker is a small stone and her grave is next to her husband, Stephen Hobson.
Note:   Buried in Rockey River Meeting House Cemetery (Quaker), Chatham County, N
