July 25, 1811 Thomas bought 106 1/2 acres of the Jesse Copher survey Fayette County from Brinsley II and Lydia (who are now living in Estill, as is Thomas), and on the same day Thomas witnessed the sale of 52 1/2 acres of the Jesse Copher survey, in Fayette County, by Brinsley II and Lydia to Moses, who is living in Fayette County. Apparently Thomas then moved back to Fayette County, next to Moses, as he no longer shows on the Estill County tax lists. 1817--In Fayette County is named as father of Sarah who married Richard Shipley Jr. 1820 Fayette Co., Kentucky Census page 104 Thomas Barnes 3 1 1 1 0 1 Males 0 1 1 0 1 Females (Next to Moses and Brinsley Barnes, and Richard Shipley) 1821--Thomas and Moses took inventory of the estate of John Bill. Thomas Barnes died between May 1822 when his will was written and August 1822 when it was recorded in Fayette County, Kentucky Will Book E page 521. In his will he named his children who were living as of May 1822. They were Sally, Betsy, Brinsley, John, Nancy, Rachel, Miller, Allen and Frank W. Barnes. His wife's name was not given. Nov 1822--Lucy was appointed guardian to the children with Moses as her security. FAYETTE COUNTY KENTUCKY WILLS AND ESTATES 1788-1822 by Charles M. Barnes (Fayette Co., Kentucky Will Book E page 521 proved 15 May 1822) lists daughters Sally, Betsy, Nancy and Rachel and sons Brinsley, John, Miller, Allen and Frank W. Barnes. In 1822 Moses Barnes provided surety for Lucy Ann Barnes when she was appointed guardian for the children of Thomas Barnes. (Brenda Whittaker research). The children over 14 were given as Brinsley, John and Richard (I believe this is Rachel). Those under 14 were Moses M. Barnes, Thomas A. Barnes and Frances W. Barnes. In 1830 Richard Shipley, Mathew Symes and John Barnes posted bond of $700 for Lucy Barnes as guardian of the heirs of Thomas Barnes being named as Miller Barnes, Allen Barnes and Frances Barnes. (Fayette County, Kentucky Guardianship Bonds 1823-1835 page 306-Margaret Ogilvie) I believe this is when Thomas Barnes estate was finally settled and a distribution of the estate occured. The first guardianship was for the interim period after Thomas Barnes death and the final settlement of the estate. 1830 Fayette Co., Kentucky Census page 294 Lucy Barnes 0 0 2 1 Males 0 0 0 0 0 1 Females 1840 Randolph Co., Missouri Census page 292 Thomas A.
