Note: amily Group Sheet OBITUARY: Cooper Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Oklahoma. Aleene Barnes, Anna Aleene White Barnes was born August 11, 1908, in Glenpool, OK, to Daniel Boone White and Launa Coleman White and passed away, Sunday, May 5, 2012, in Tecumseh, OK. Her father worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron building oil tank farms so she grew up with her family following the latest oil strike. As a teenager she went to live with her Grandmother Coleman in Farmington, New Mexico. That was where she met and married Charles Barnes on January 29, 1929. They were going to celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary when he passed away just 11 days short of their anniversary. In the early days of their marriage he went to work as a baker for Navaho Indian Reservations first in New Mexico and then in Arizona. She loved to collect anything to do with Native American culture. Some of her favorite stories were about the years they lived on the reservations. They were there until World War II when they went to California to work in the Naval ship yards as welders. Mrs. Barnes lived in California until 1990 when she returned to Oklahoma to be closer to family. She was a gifted gardener and enjoyed sewing and planning new things for her house and yard. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant twin son, Lummie Barnes, son, Charles Delaney Barnes, II; brothers, Danny White, Gordon “Rabbit” White, Earl White, D.B. White, and Albert McLemore. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Akie Barnes of Colorado Springs, CO; grandson and his wife, Charles and Jennifer Barnes of Edgewater, CO; granddaughter, Margie Barnes of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas White of Wewoka and Burney and Wilma White of Shawnee and Louise White of Moore; sisters and brother-in-law, Marguerite (White) Wilson of Earlsboro and Oleta (White) and W.G.
