Page 6 - 21 Apr 1801: William Tennis and wife Elizabeth Tennis to Isaac Wiseman and William Wiseman 62 acres for five shillings on the north side of Lick Run where said Wiseman now lives. The following information is taken from “The Wisemans” 2nd Edition, 1992. Compiled by Boyd W Venable of 2312 Branner Avenue, Jefferson City, Tennessee, 3760, a Wiseman descendant. William Wiseman, second son of Abner, was born in 1802, probably in Kentucky. He married 16 year old Docia Abney (born 1813) in 1829 when he was 27. By 1840 Docia was gone and 39 year old William was back living with his mother Isabell. William died about 1848. He would have been close to 46 years old. I do not have the date Docia died, but because she disappeared from the census record before 1840 and William had moved back home by then, I think she died in her twenties. Young women often died as a result of child bearing in those days, and people also died of smallpox, tuberculosis, cholera, typhoid fever, scarlet fever and pneumonia, as well as from other causes which still plague us. William and Docia had three children, who were: 1. Martha, who married William Skinner and moved to Springfield, Missouri. 2. Jacob, who went to Springfield also and got married there. 3. Abner Wiseman (son of William), born 1834, who stayed in Estill County and married Elizabeth Walling. One of the eight children of this couple was another Henry B Wiseman, born 12/1857, who was to have 12 children of his own. He is buried in the Wiseman graveyard at the head of Calloway Creek. Another was a namesake Docia Wiseman, born 1860, who married A J Wise and whose descendant William E Wise still lives In the area (Ravenna), and who furnished part of this information on the William Wiseman line. The other five children of Abner(Son of William) and Docia were: Dillard, born 4/1863, Mary and Martha (twins), born 1867, Roberta, born 2/1870, John, born 1872, and William, born 1874.
