Note: d A Grave.com) Elizabeth Davis Wiseman b: 26 Aug 1738 Oley, Berks County, Pennsylvania. d: Jul 19, 1807, Union, Monroe County, West Virginia. NOTE: *Special Note: A thank you to Dana Ribble 46816333 for sponsoring this memorial Elizabeth Davis Wiseman was the daughter of Samuel Davis, born circa 1709 and unknown mother. Eizabeth was married to Isaac I. Wiseman, who served in the Pennsylvania Militia during the Revolutionary War. They lived in Oley, Berks Co., PA. and lived in some proximity to George Boone, patriarch of the Boone family there. Isaac's father, Isaac Sr., his name is found on a petition along with George Boone's signature and those of others. This is mentioned because of future migrations of Boone's, Wiseman's and others to North Carolina. The Wiseman family later migrated to Rowan Co., North Carolina to a place called the Jersey Settlement, and a few years later into the future Monroe Co., WV. area, then known as The New River Country. You may see Rockingham listed and that was one of the previous names for that area. Isaac Wiseman and Elizabeth Davis were the parents of several children. A list follows, although it should be advised anyone using this information thoroughly verify it. There may be many mistakes and any corrections are gladly accepted. Possible children: Joseph, John , Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Rachel, Samuel, Abner, Elizabeth, Margaret, William, Edith, Mary The above listed children the following is thought to be their genealogy: 1 Joseph married Susannah Manly 2.married Elizabeth Bateman 2 John Wiseman was Rev.Wiseman & married to Sarah Green 3 Sarah was married to James Barley 4 Isaac Jr. was married to Mary Armentrout 5 Jacob was married to Rachel _____ 6 Samuel was married to Mary Bowyer 7 Abner, according to notes was married to Isabel Blanton may be an error as there is no one buried with him at Wiseman cemetery by that name. (Estill, KY) 8 Elizabeth was married to John Blanton 9 Margaret was married to Bartholomew Ramsey 10 William was married to Mary (Polly) Ramsey 1.Pheobe Kilburn Some info may not be correct. Some marriages may not be in order. This is meant as a general guideline. Information that is sourced includes information from a book called "A History of Monroe County, West Virginia", 1916, written by Oren F. Morten. On page 418 he lists information about Isaac and Elizabeth and says they were from Bucks Co., Pennsylvania. Probably meant Berks? He tells that after the Revolution that Isaac and Elizabeth relocated to Rehoboth. Could this be Isaac's bounty land in The New River Country? For possible information on burial see Linwood, Davidson County, NC. That is where the Jersey Baptist Church cemetery is located. Believe they were members, however, the historian noted he thought the graves might not be marked. Church records might hold information.
