a. Note:   .C. From 1855 to 1888, Wetmore was rector of St. Andrew's Church (Episcopal), located between Woodleaf and Cooleemee in Rowan County. He was also active in the temperance movement of the 1870s and 1880s, serving as president of the North Carolina state council of the Friends of Temperance in 1873 and 1874. Wetmore married Rosa Hall (d. 1884) and was related to Kemp Plummer Battle (1831-1919), president of the University of North Carolina, 1876-1891. Wetmore was also related to Ann Troy Hall. Reverend George Badger Wetmore (1823-1888) of Woodleaf, Rowan County, N.C.
