If so, he was born in or moved to Pittsylvania Co., VA and on to Washington/Sullivan Co., NC/TN with John. 1777 --- Pittsylvania Co., VA. JOHN SR. and sons JOSEPH, ISAIAH, JAMES and JOHN, JR. signed the PITTSYLVANIA Declaration of Independence and the Oath of Loyalty to the Patriot Cause to remove George III and the British forces from control of this land. We assume that Benjamin was not "of age" or he would have signed also. 1787 --- SULLIVAN CO., NC. [Now TN] Benjamin Waldrop signed petition for the creation for a State of Franklin in Western NC/TN in Washington/Sullivan Counties, NC [This became TN] Served with general John Sevier in fights against the Indians in old Washington and Sullivan counties, NC (now TN). He, along with his brothers, James, Joseph and Isaiah, were in support of John Sevier and eastern TN neighbors as they sought to establish the new state of Franklin. Residents of the State of Franklin petitioned for release from all obiligations, taxations, and duties to the North Carolina state government, which was still claiming and attempting to govern this area. The State of Franklin stretched from Shelby's Station (Bristol), east to Sycamore Shoals (Elizabethton), southwest to White's Fort (Knoxville), and southeast to Ft. Loudoun (Little Tennessee River). The petition missed by congressional vote of 12 to 15 according to Tennessee Cousins by Worth S. Ray and North Carolina State Records, Vol. 22, pp.705-714. 1790 --- Not a head of household on the 1790 U. S. Census.
