Note: ass. and d. at Mendon, Mass. on Jan 11, 1688/9. The memorialist is unaware of a gravestone that could assist in determining her age at death. There is a longstanding problem regarding Elizabeth's identity. Prior to the King Philips War in 1675-6, there was only one Fuller family at Rehoboth, Mass; the family and children of Robert Fuller and Sarah Bowen, formerly of Salem, Mass. Their children were:• i. Jonathan Fuller (the memorialist's ancestor), b. circa 1642 prob. at Salem, Mass.; m. on Dec. 14, 1664 at Rehoboth, Mass., Elizabeth Wilmarth, dau. of Ens. Thomas Wilmarth & Elizabeth Bliss. Jonathan d. at Attleboro, Mass. on Feb. 10, 1708/9 and wife Elizabeth at Rehoboth on Sep. 28, 1704. Their eighth child and the first dau. of the family, named Elizabeth, was b. at Rehoboth on May 12, 1678.• ii. John Fuller, b. circa 1648 prob. at Rehoboth, was slain by Indians and bur. at Rehoboth on Aug. 23, 1676. He m. on Apr. 25, 1673 at Rehoboth, Abigail Titus, dau. of John Titus & Abigail Carpenter (the memorialist's ancestors), b. at Rehoboth on Feb. 18, 1752/3. Abigail m. 2) on Oct. 16, 1679 at Rehoboth as his 2nd wife, Thomas Cushman, s. of Thomas Cushman & Mary Allerton (dau. of Isaac Allerton of the Mayflower), b. at Plymouth, Mass. on Sept. 16, 1637 & d. at Plympton, Mass. on Aug. 23, 1726. Abigail (Titus)(Fuller) Cushman d. at Attleboro, Mass. on May 31, 1734. John Fuller and wife Abigail had two known children, both sons.• iii. Samuel Fuller, b. circa 1649 prob. at Rehoboth, Mass., was slain by Indians and bur. at Rehoboth on Aug. 15, 1676; he m. on Dec. 12, 1673 at Rehoboth, Mary Ide, dau. of Nicholas Ide & Martha Bliss, b. at Rehoboth on Dec. 10, 1649. They had one known child, son Samuel, b. at Rehoboth on Nov. 23, 1676. The widow Mary (Ide) Fuller m. 2) on Dec. 27, 1677 at Rehoboth, John Redway.• iv. Elizabeth Fuller, b. circa 1652 at Rehoboth. See further below.• v. Benjamin Fuller, b. circa 1660 at Rehoboth, d. at Rehoboth on Jan. 11, 1711/2; m. 1) circa 1686 Mary by whom he had four children and she d. at Rehoboth on Feb. 27, 1695/6; m. 2) on Jan. 13, 1698/9 at Rehoboth, Judith Smith, by whom he had three more children.During the multiple attacks by Indians on Rehoboth in 1675-6, Robert Fuller's wife Sarah died and was bur. at Rehoboth on Oct. 14, 1676. Robert then removed to Salem, Mass. returning to Rehoboth in the late 1690s. Robert had two subsequent wives who both d. at Rehoboth: in 1700 and 1704, respectively. Robert Fuller d. at Rehoboth on May 10, 1706.Accordingly, there was only one Elizabeth Fuller of sufficient age at Rehoboth to have m. there on Aug. 1, 1672 to Nehemiah Sabin, s. of William Sabin, b. of record at Rehoboth on May 28, 1647. Nehemiah and Elizabeth had three children at Rehoboth before Nehemiah was slain by Indians and bur. at Narragansett, Rhode Island in June 1676, a casualty of the King Philips War. Of the three children, two were sons, David & Daniel, with David dying at the age of three months in early 1675. The remaining son Daniel, whose birth is not of record, is called the orphaned son of Nehemiah Sabin in the 1690 right to land at Rehoboth. This right was via the quit-claim deed in late 1689 from Maj. William Bradford to the town of Rehoboth. Maj. Bradford, an elder son of the late Gov. William Bradford of the Plymouth Colony, gave multiple quit-claim deeds on behalf of his deceased father to various towns of the former Plymouth Colony. After Nehemiah Sabin's death, his widow m. at Rehoboth on Apr. 17, 1678 as his first wife, Eleazer Wheelock of Medfield, Mass. This marriage is recorded in both the Rehoboth and Medfield records as being to Elizabeth Fuller, but the date of the marriage only appears in the Rehoboth record. Although it has become accepted as fact that Eleazer Wheelock's wife Elizabeth Fuller was the former widow Elizabeth (Fuller) Sabin, the memorialist is unaware of any published research of deeds, wills, etc. in Mass. and Conn. that prove that Eleazer Wheelock of Medfield, Mass. was the "father-in-law" (i.e., stepfather) of Daniel Sabin of Rehoboth, Mass.Because of the turmoil of the King Philip's War, and particularly at Rehoboth, the memorialist believes the most plausible explanation is that the Rehoboth town clerk failed to include at her marriage to Eleazer Wheelock in 1678 that Elizabeth Fuller was "alias Sabin."For the children of Elizabeth (Fuller)(Sabin) Wheelock, see her respective husbands.Family links: Spouses:Nehemiah Sabin (1647 - 1676) 47308958Eleazer Wheelock (1654 - 1731) 47290189Children:Daniel Sabin (1676 - 1755) 47308481Elizabeth Wheelock Smith (1679 - 1704) 47275645Ralph Wheelock (1683 - 1748) 45179081
