He was deacon at the first church of Windham. In May 1738 he became Judge of the County Courts, and was recommissioned annually until 1772. He represented Windham in the General Court of Connecticut in 1739, 1744 and 1745." "About 1750 he moved to what was then known as the Union Lands in Windham. In 1786 Tolland County wasformed from various towns in Windham and Hartford Counties. Union became the most northeastern townshipin Tolland County. Ebenezer Wales was a Selectman in Union in 1759 and 1763. When Rev. Ezra Horton wasordained as pastor of the Church in Union on June 14, 1759 the members that were already in the church included Ebenezer Wales, his wife Deborah and Elisha, a son by his first marriage...." "Ebenezer Wales was noted for his piety, intellectual ability and deep sensibility. This is proved by the manuscripthe left which was printed many years later as The Counsels and Directions of Ebenezer Wales Esq. to His Children. The history of Union says these Counsels were in manuscript form for 76 years before being published in 1813 almost 40 years after his death. They were reprinted again in 1875... and in 1909..."
