  Alice Jane Hollenbeck, Daughter of Andrew and Susan Hollenbeck, was born in Lin county, Iowa, October 24 1852 and departed this life at the home of her son, Chas. F. Burton of near Phillipsburg, April 1st, 1934, aged 81 years, 4 months and eight days.
  On April 14, 1870, in Dallas County Iowa, she was united in marriage to Nathan Burton, who preceded her in death July 7th 1933. To this union five children were born, Clara Belle having preceded her at the age of five, and William Frankin in 1920 at the age of 48 to the great beyond.
  She leaves to mourn her departure one son and two daughters; Charles F. Burton of Phillipsburg, Olive Rose Donoven of Boulder, Colo and Effie May Ackerman, of Herman, Neb. all being here to attend their mother's funeral.. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Emma Carter of Lebanon, Kansas, and Mrs. Mark Cameron of Hebron, Neb., also 14 grand children and 24 great grandchildren.
  Mr. and Mrs. Burton moved to Phillips county with their family in 1883 and settled on a farm northeast of Phillipsburg. She united with the Pleasant Valley Baptist church, and after having moved to Phillipsburg, she united with the First Baptist church here and has been a faithful and loyal member to the end. Services were held at the First Baptist church Wednesday, April 4, being in charge of the pastor, Rev Madison Reynolds, assisted by Rev. Campbell, pastor of the M.E. church after which commitment was made in Fairview cemetery.

  P.A. Hollenbeck and daughter Mrs. Griffin, of Audubon, IA and Mrs. Carter of Lebanon, brother and sister of Mrs. Burton visited at the Burton home Friday evening until Monday morning.
