Trout Author: Robin Prausa Date: 7 Jul 2000 12:00 PM GMT Surnames: Troutt, Trout, Hummer, Ramsey, Harton Classification: Query Post Reply | Mark Unread | Report Abuse Print Message Does anyone know who the parents are of this Mary E. Trout? Marriage, dated March 10, 1863 in Todd county. Between S.M. Tucker (could also be L. M. Tucker), age 37 and Mary E. Trout, age 24. (would have been born 1839) The facts under this marriage are what are interesting and one of the reasons I copied it: The groom is shown as age 37, a farmer and that this is his 2nd marriage. It shows he was born in Tenn, his parents both born in North Carolina (but names not provided). The bride is shown as age 24, and as having been born in Todd County, KY. Her father and mother were born in Kentucky (again, no names!). Also, a John England is shown on the attached marriage bond (dated March 9, 1863) with S. M. Tucker....normally you would expect her father to show there..but not in this case. There is a "remarks" section under the brides part and in it is written: "Unfortunate, yet fortunate". The wedding took place at Bishop Lands (not sure what that is, but there are families named Land in Todd County, so may be a residence) on March 10, 1863. I have been trying for some time to figure out who this Mary Trout is--but can;t find her among the Trout or Troutt families I have. I cannot locate any Englands in the 1850 Todd County Census. Not sure about the closer 1860 census. anyhow, there is something both compelling and sad about this marriage...there's a story here I would love to understand, but have to connect her with a family first and haven't been successful doing that. Any help would be appreciated. William Troutt who married Lucy Gant on 4/15/1873 in Todd County is the same as James W. Troutt, son of Isaish Troutt of Todd county? Both were born around 1848, but the census data for 1850 and 1860 refer to Isaiah's son as James W. Trout. Later I find this marriage and am wondering if this James W. later preferred to be called William and if in fact these two are one and the same? http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:994644&id=I2734 Title: Vital Statistics, Todd County, KY, compiled by A.
