 Departed aged 26 years from London 26091889 aboard Mekara bound for Thursday island - Brisbane,arriving 24111889.Captain Turner,carried 397 passengers.He could read and write.
 The first night their waggon became bogged in the Driver River, They unloaded all their goods and spent the night on the banks, and spent another 3 days reaching thier destination. On the property, which they farmed for nine years, the bullocks worked in two lines of four, for drilling and carting wheat to Arno Bay. In 1911 wheat was worth 3/4d per bushell, (33c) varieties being grown were gluyas, golden drop, federation and marshall # 3. Their food included boiled wheat. rice and salted meat during the hard times. In 1918 they moved to within a mile of the Driver River Church, which they attended regularly. The Verran Siding School was nearby.
