Note: He worked on his father's farm until 1942,when he joined the A.I.F.He stayed in the army until 1956.The family were living at Bradbury in the Adelaide Hills,when 2 sons were married.Stan and Linda were actively engaged in community work for that 12 years.They then moved to Belair,Stan working for the S.A.R.for 15 years.He was transferred to Poochera,West Coast,and was a ganger during his last 3 years.The years at Poochera were happy ones,for the people where like one happy family.He was first-aid man at the football,and he also trained the colts.After suffering a heart attack,they lived at Belair,and Murray Bridge where he passed away.He was buried at Pt.Broughton.Linda still lives at Murray Bridge. !Details from THE WHITTAKER SAGA,MARY BEARD BOX 36 LOCK S.A.5633
