Vital Records of Buckland Massachusetts to the End of the Year 1849 as found Marriages & Intentions from the New England Historical and Genealogical Register. "JOHN PIKE, son of Leonard and Susannah (Sprague) Pike, b. 9 December 1775, at Ashfield, Mass.; d. 26 Mar 1847 in St. Lawrence County, New York; m. (Intention) at Buckland, Mass., 23 Nov 1803, with Meribah Jones of Buckland. It is said that they were married 2 February 1804 by records of Harold Pike, Route 1, Pine Island, Minn. 55963." "Meribah Jones, the wife of John Pike, was b. c. 1779 according to records of St. Lawrence Co., New York, or on 8 Apr 1783 according to records of Harold Pike, Pine Island, Minn. She died 3 April 1849 at Gouverneur, St. Lawrence County, New York. Her parentage has not bee ascertained, but it is thought that she was probably born at Buckland, Mass., and was perhaps the daughter of William Jones of Buckland, Mass., by an unknown first wife. The records of Buckland, Mass., were lost by fire and lack of other records concerning the early Jones families of Buckland, Mass., area renders it nearly impossible to prove her ancestry." "The children of John and Meribah (Jones) Pike: JOHN, Jr. b. 10 June 1805, Charlemont, Mass.; d. ??. d. probably in St. Lawrnece Co., New York; m. Lydia Gardner, b. 26 Nov 1814, DePeyster, New York; d. 23 March 1887, Fithburg, Mass., daughter of Seth and Lucy (Webster) Gardner. PHILEMON, b. 1 December 1807, Charlemont, Mass.; d. 3 Feb 1839, buried at Spragueville, New York. EMERSON, b. 5 July 1811, Charlemont, Mass.; d. 12 June 1875 near Pine Island, Minn.; m. 1 March 1834, Abigail Woodward, b. 5 October 1816, daughter of Amasa and Abigail (Clark) Woodward. PHILANDER, b. 1 September 1820, probably at Charlemont, Mass., although not recorded there; d. ?? probably in St. Lawrence Co., New York; m. Elsie Freer. ?? perhaps WILLIAM, b. ??; d. 15 October 1825 at Charlemont, Mass. No parents are named for this William Pike in the Charlemont, Mass., Vital Records. He could be a son of John and Meribah (Jones) Pike since theywere recorded at Charlemont, Mass., in the 1820 and 1830 cemsus and their children were all thought to have been born there. The only other Pike family of this period at Charlemont, Mass., was Elisha Pike, a half-brother of John Pike, and Elisha's children were all recorded at Charlemont, but in an earlier period. MARIA/MERIBAH/or MARIE, b. 13 July 1826, probably at Charlemont, Mass., but not recorded there; d. 9 October 1895, New Haven Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota; m. William Roderick/Rodrick, b. 26 April 1826; d. 10 December 1913, son of Joseph Roderick." The above taken from Family Group sheets and descendancy/ancestry charts for John Pike from Ms. Norma J.
