Note: BIOGRAPHY: Elijah Ames served as private in Capt. Bigelow Lawrence's company, Colonel Herrick's regiment of Vermont militia, 1780. He was born in Massachusetts; died in Bennington, Vt. Nathan Mitchel, 2d lieutenant under Captain Keith, and as lieutenant under Colonels Mitchell, Gerrish and Cary in the Massachusetts militia.
