Worcester County, Massacusets Probate Index 1813 Joel and Jonas Brimhall guardianship - Oakham, MA Per Gordon Brimhall Samuel Jr was born 30 Oct 1748 in Hingham, Plymouth Co., MA. On 28Jan 1775 in Abington, Plymouth Co. MA he married Eunice Humphrey, the daughter of John Humphrey and Mary Penny. Eunice was born 11 Dec 1753 in Weymouth, MA. Samuel and Eunice had ten children. Book 53-130, Plymouth County Probate Records reveal that "On July 22, 1775, Samuel Brimhall Jr. (Bramhall) yeoman, purchased a parcel of land, 150 acres, more or less, in Abington, Massachusetts, from Samurl Thaxter, yeoman, for the sum of two hundred forty-six pounds, sixteen shillings". Samuel Brimhall Jr. died in the town of Oakham, Worchester Co., Massachusetts, on Feb 3 1812. Eunice Humphrey Brimhall died on April 21, 1830 in Oakham, Massachusetts. Yeoman, as used in this context, is described as "a small farmer who cultivates his own land; esp: one of a class of English freeholders below the gentry."
