a. Note:   He moved from Waterboro to Harrison in 1797. He was the first Scribner family to settled in Harrison, Maine. He settled near a place called Summit Hill. On 26 Aug 1805 ... 1st Townmeeting in Harrison... He was chosen constable and moderator for theTown meetings. On 20 November 1817, it was voted to build a house to deposit the town's stock of powder in. It was to be 8' square, 6' high, with a hip roof; to be built with hewed timbers 6" thick; to cover the house with split clapboards, shingled the rough and paint said house Spanish Brown. This house was duly built as noted and placed in Samuel Scribner's pasture being opposite to where W. H. Briggs lived in 1905. It was placed so far from the road that its top was barely visible. It was in sad decay in 1905. In 1822 a Superintending school committee was elected. Aha same year, school agents were first chosen, among them were Samuel Scribner. The agent was the most important officer, and was empowered to transact all of the school's district business including hiring of teachers. In 1827, the Baptist Church (formerly) known as Calvin Baptist Church was organized at the house of Samuel Scribner. Hannah and Sarah Scribner were among the members. He was married to Hannah Watson on 2 March 1797 in Bridgton, Maine
