Notes
a. Note:   The following data is extracted from Merrimack and Sullivan Counties, New Hampshire Biographies. Nathaniel's descendants were teachers, physicians and astronomers. In the late 19th century, Dudley Leavitt (1767-1839), teacher of mathematics and astronomy, published Leavitt's Farmer's Almanac, clearly a competitor with the Old Farmer's Almanac. He was assisted in the astronomical calculations needed by farmers by his nephew, bWilliam B. Leavitt (1812-1895)/b, a professor of practical astronomy. The Grantham archives holds a number of issues of the almanac, the earliest dating from 1841. These were published in Concord and sold at pharmacies and grocery stores. Trolley Tour Booklet
