Notes
a. Note:   Nathan Edson married in Bridgewater Feb. 27, 1738, Mary Sprague, born Mar. 26, 1722, daughter of Johnathon and Lydia [Leavitt] Sprague. She was not yet 16, and he was about 22. Very little is now know about this couple, who were the parents of our Nathan. The births of the children were not recorded, and the family bible is lost trace of. The husband went to war when he 32 years old, in King George's War. He enlisted Mar. 25, 1748, and served until Dec. 21 as a sentinel in Capt. Thomas Henderson's company, being stationed for a time at Pleasant Point. He died about two years after this--Mar. 31, 1751--at the age of 35. He left five children. The widow, at that time 28 years of age, never married again, as far as is known. She was appointed administratrix of her husband's estate and rendered her final account as such on Oct. 27, 1765, signing her name 'Mary Edson.' Her children were evidently of age at that time. Her death is not recorded. Children: Nathan, born about 1739 Mary, who married Jan. 10, 1758, James Snow,Jr. Sarah, who married Jan. 31, 1760, Solomon Perkins, Jr. A son whose name is unknown: he is said to have settled in New Orleans about 1812, but this appears unlikely; perhaps he went to Olean, Cattaraugus county, N.Y. A daughter whose name is unknown: she married a Kendell and lived near Black River, Jefferson county, N. Y. --Nathan Edson and His Descendants
