They were involved in clock-making in Ohio. In 1812, when he was 21, he came to Trumbull County - from Ct. He established a saddler's shop at the house of John Leavitt, Jr., (who became his father in law.) His father in law, John Leavitt, was one of Warren's(Ohio) wealthiest men. The 1820 census - Wheeler was living just outside Warren on his farm where he had an apprentice-aged young man, perhaps his brother, Garry, in addition to family. |
