Note:   Samuel grew up at French Lake, Sheffield, Sunbury County, New Brunswick,at the time of his marriage he lived in Fredericton, New Brunswick.Married Myra Palmer who was the mother of his children. Then he marriedAnn Hayward of Lincoln 4 May 1819. He moved to Brighton, Carleton Co,this was later called Becaquimac and is now [1958] Coldstream. He gave land for thefirst Baptist Church off his farm. Samuel and Ann moved from Sunbury to Carleton County, probably in the1820s. He was granted Lot 6, 277 acres, at Rockland, on the southerlyside of the Becaguimec River, September 8, 1829. They lived theremainder of their lives there. Ruth Estabrooks' notes say, "Mother usedto call him Old Grandpa. He was blind and lived with Uncle Levi, and because they wern't good to himhe came and lived with grandpa (Alban C. Estabrooks). His second wife,Ann Hayward, mother used to call Crazy Grandma." Samuel and Ann left no descendants. Their only child, a daughter, died before she was a year old. The Sunbury Co., N.B., Marriages, 1766-1888 (PANB MC80/1244) #C0164, showthat Samuel Estabrooks of Fredericton and Ann Hayward of the Parish ofLincoln were married 5 May 1819 by John Hazen, J.P., in presence of JohnHayward and Samuel N. Estabrooks. A Grave stone in the Calvanist Baptist Cemetery at Rockland, CarletonCo., N.B., is inscribed Samuel Estabrooks, d. 16 Apr 1871, ae 84 yrs;Ann, his wife, d. 13 Oct 1874, ae 75 yrs. !CENSUS: The 1851 census, Parish of Brighton, Carleton Co., N.B. (PANB,microfilm F1589), p. 26, lists Samuel Estabrooks, 64, farmer, infirm,cripple; Ann, 52, wife, infirm; Rufus, 62, brother, infirm. BURIAL: Calvinist Baptist
