Title: WALF Submission -- Valerie LaRobardier Publication: [email protected] Text: Bob Hackett who responded to one of my queries with a link to your website. In later discussions, he thought I should write you with the information I have. I have notes on the children of this couple, some of which does not appear on your site, much of which comes from my grandmother's notes concerning our family history. Sometimes people are referred to by nicknames used, so some of the names may be inaccurate in that regard, but I have tried to annotate and/or clean it up so that it may be useful. My grandmothers notes also say of Martha Eliza Estabrook (wife of Oramil/Oramel Leavitt): She came from Merrimachi in Canada. She remembered the great forest fire there, when people and animals, wild and tame dunked themselves in the river all together to escape the flames. Martha Elizas mother was Jane Monroe/Munro, all Scotch. Estabrook died and Jane married a man by the name of Hunter. In the Estabrook family surname research, this part of which is largely taken from Genealogy of the Anglo-Dutch Estabrook Family (1935) by Flora Estabrooks and Genealogy of the Anglo-Dutch Estabrooks Family of The Saint John River New Brunswick by Flora Estabrooks (1933, revised 1958) we find a Thomas Fletcher Estabrook, born NB, married Jane Munro, died 1823, showing Jane Munro marrying second Frances Hunter and then moving to Hogdon, ME. This Thomas Fletcher Estabrook can then be traced back to the same John Leavitt b 1608 and Sarah Gilman that appear in the Leavitt genealogy. So this couple (Oramil Leavitt and Martha Estabrook), albeit distant, had ancestors in common. |
