a. Note:   Hannah, the eighth child of Joseph and Sarah Towl Nay, was born 7 May, 1786 at Ossipee; d. 23 September, 1874. (tomb says 7 Nov) at Tamworth. Married Jonathan Leavitt, son of William and Mary Leavitt(He was brother of Anna, wife of her brother Anthony) b., 19 September 1787 at Moultonboro, d., 16 July, 1840 at Tuftonboro; m., on 21 April, 1814. In 1817 they settled in Tuftonboro, N. H. Buys land from John T. Dodge at Moultonboro on road to Tuftopnbor 10 February, 1817. In 1856 three of their children moved west. Jonathan and his brother Caleb, and their brother in law, J. L. Taylor, moved to Vernon Minn. and were in the lumber business. In 1858 the two brothers moved their business to Madelia, Minn., but were driven away from there by Indian outbreak in August of 1862. Jonathan Jr. died of exposure and diptheria while scouting Indians at the time of the Sioux War. Members of the Congregational Society of Tuftonboro came from the families of Jonathan Sr..
