Note:   Canadian Border Crossing records indicate Susan and four youngest children Edward, Edith, Thirza, and Walter, passed through Port Huron on June 24, 1913, on the way from Toronto to Battle Creek. Susan had 145 dollars, while some, Edward, had 5 dollars. Henry followed in July, accompanied by oldest child, Henry, Jr. Henry had 50 dollars, while Harry had 5 dollars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From obituary in Benton Harbor News Palladium, 12-2-1952: "...died at the age of 74, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo Monday at 11 AM." "Her husband, H.J. Higgs, also survives. Mr. Higgs owned and operated the Higgs Battery Shop on Sixth street, in the old Bell Opera House building from 1921 to 1932, during which time the Higgs lived on Brunson Avenue. They moved from Benton Harbor to Plainwell in 1936, where they have made their home since." "Mrs. Higgs death culminated an illness of longstanding. She had been bedridden since last October."
