Note:   FROM LAFAYETTE COUNTY HERITAGE BOOK: "Levi Walter (Lee) Rikard and his family came to Lafayette County from Newberry County, SC along with a number of other families in the mid 1800's. His wife was Nancy Amanda Smith, daughter of Spivey Smith and Martha Maria Kinard. Lee was a businessman, evidenced by the fact that he was one of the five men who originated the First National Bank of Oxford and a farmer of land in the New Hope Community and an area now covered by Sardis Resevoir. There were 9 children: Henry m. Ida Buchanan, Ezra m. Mary Wooten, Permelia (Sissy) m. Riley Maples, Ellen m. Morris Buchanan, Hurley m. William Franklin Metts, all of whom spent their lifetime in Lafayette County. EZEKIEL m. 1st Pearl Wooten then 2nd Annie Darling and moved to Olive Branch in Desoto County where he was a judge. James m. Annie Massey, was a doctor and after his death, his widow and son moved to Chandler, OK. Bethenia m. William Franklin Knight and settled in Hardaman County, Tn. Elizabeth the youngest child was unmarried. Lee saw that each of his children , except Elizabeth , had a farm but made each pay $100.00 for it rather than make it an outright gift. At his death in 1914, his will provided for a life estate for Elizabeth, who was handicapped. Article written by Marian P. Thompson _______________________ Annie and Ezekiel were both living in Gomez, MS. near Oxford, MS. when they married.
