The Baptist Church in Hinesburg was organized on May 10, 1810. Among the eighteen original members were John Beecher and his wife Lydia, and John Beecher Jr. and his wife Clarissa. The church is still (1976) standing (built in 1826) although it is now the United Church. John Beecher moved into Hinesburg town in 1802, according to "History and Tales of Hinesburg, Vermont" by Bostwick.
