Notes
a. Continued:   Was an extremely independent woman. She challenged the will of John WOOLDRIDGE because one of his children owed her money. She won and immediately gave the land to the children of her son William's first marriage. She patented land on her own in Franklin County and Lawrence County, AL, a practice which was unheard of for women at the time. Keziah did not leave a will, but gave her property to her grandchildren (by name) while she was living. The children who were born after the dates of the deeds (our ancestor included) were excluded from any inheritance. This created a rift in this family which has not entirely healed until today.
