Notes
a. Continued:   William, Jr.'s mother died when he was very young. He went to live with HORSLEY relatives who moved to Missouri and that is where he grew up. He and Susan appear in the 1860 census of Sumner County, TN with a houseful of children. In 1870 the children were all "farmed out" with various relatives. William and Susan were nowhere to be found. Several researchers, including this one, have searched the records for some clue as to what happened to them and nothing appears. It is assumed that they died between the birth of Jack in 1873 and the 1880 census, but the court records contain no probate records, no guardianship orders,...nothing.
b. Continued:   I am assuming he died, although no probate papers have been found. For that matter, neither has anything else been found. In 1880 the children were all farmed out to different families and William and Susan were not there.
