Note: Marriage record http://www.lawrencecoarchives.com/database/marriages.php#/?page=3&searchCol=groom_surname&searchBy=wallace William H. Wallace and Eliza Guthrie married in Lawrence County AL on 6 Oct 1834. Assuming he was 21 at the time places his birth year about 1813. [Note: Eliza Guthrie was one of three orphaned children of Nathaniel Guthrie, who died about 1833. She had been the ward of James J. Wallace. Her siblings Marcetta/Lucretta and William C. were wards of Jeremiah Wallace.] 1840 Lawrence County AL census Wm H. Wallace, however the text of the memorial at Findagrave.com states his name as William Harrison Wallace. His gravestone shows he died 15 Jun 1861 aged 45 years. His age at death appears to be incorrect based on census data and his estimated age at marriage; see above. If he was born in 1813, his age at death would be about 48. He is believed to be one of the 20-29 year old males in the household of Gracy Wallace in the 1830 Lawrence County AL census, but may actually have been slighly less than 20 at the time. This would place his birth year about 1810, which would make him around 51 at his death. His parents' names are not known from any legal record, but what I present here is probably correct. It is based on finding a record showing William Wallis married Grace Harrison in Greene County TN on 13 Jun 1791. Gracy Wallis [Grace Wallace] appears in the 1830 Lawrence County AL census. William H. Wallace, who was born in TN, first appears in the 1840 Lawrence County AL census and is still there in 1850, but moved to Franklin County by 1860. In 1830 he would have been about 17 if his estimated birth year is correct. 1830 Lawrence County AL census Gracy Wallis Males: 20-29: 2, 30-39: 1 Females: 50-59: 1 Slaves, Female: 10-23: 1
