Note: MARY MELLISSA TEMPLE was born March 12, 1846 in Coatesville, Chester County, PA. She was the daughter of Thomas Franklin Temple and Hannah Wistler. In the 1850 Federal Census she was living with her family in East Caln, Chester County. By 1860 the family had moved to Jersey City, NJ and in 1866 she married Archibald. She stays with Archibald through his move to Johnstown and according to Clark’s Johnstown Directory of 1887 is still living at 506 Chapin St in Conemaugh after his death. An 1889 Clark’s Directory shows her at 343 Gautier St, Conemaugh, PA listed as "widow", boarding w/Charles, Robert & Thomas T. At some point after this (about1890 according to census records) Mary remarries to a Fred Schrimser who dies in 1924. Mary dies October 24, 1930. Her obituary reads: Mrs. Mary Melissa (Temple) Schrimser, who had been a resident of Johnstown for the last 52 years, died of heart trouble at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Morgan, 1292 Franklin street, Roxbury, between 9 and 10 o'clock this morning, aged 83 years. Mrs. Schrimser lost her eyesight two years ago. She was able to be about until two weeks ago, when she suffered a heart attack. The deceased was born in Coatesville, Pa., a daughter of Thomas and Hannah (Wistler) Temple. She was a sister of Charles H. Temple, of Westmont and John E. Temple, formerly of this city, now of New Jersey. The deceased was married twice. Her first husband, A. L. Ray, passed away here in 1885. Her second husband, Fred Schrimser, expired February, 1924. Mrs. Schrimser is survived by five children, 24 grandchildren, 21great-granchildren, two brothers a stepson, Frank Schrimser, ofWilkinsburg, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jessie Edwards, ofScranton. The sons and daughters are C. L. Ray, of HornerStreet; Robert Ray, who is in the West; Mrs. George Wentz, ofConemaugh; Mrs. Ernest Morgan and Edward Ray, both of Roxbury.Mrs. Schrimser was identified with St. Mark's Episcopal Church,Locust street. The rector of that parish, the Rev. Edward L.Reed, will have charge of the funeral services at the Morgan home at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
