Kent Mrs. Thelma Marie Kent, 53, Walhonding Route 2, dies at 1:15 p.m. Wenesday at Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg after an extended illness. She has been a hospital patient since Oct. 2. Until her illness,Mrs. Kent operated a beauty salon at her home in Tiverton Twp. She was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Florida, a daughter of Grady and Alice Roberson and was first married in 1939 to Arthur Wallace. On Feb. 9, 1947, she was married a second time to Walter Kent, who survives. Mrs. Kent was a member of the Riley Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, survivors are two sons, LIVING Wallace, Philadelphia, Pa., and LVING Wallace, Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. LIVING, Scarsdale, N.Y., and LIVING, Columbus; and two grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased. Services are to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fischer Funernal Homein Warsaw. Rev. Charles Clinton will be in charge. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and until time for services Saturday. ~~ Coshocton Tribune, Oct. 29, 1969: ~~~ COURT NEWS COURTHOUSE TWO WILLS FILED The wills of the late Thelma M. Kent ... were files in Probate Court. The husband, Walter Kent, is the only beneficiary of his wife's will. He was also named executor of the will, dated April 17, 1963. ~~~ All of the following is according to Thelma's daughter LIVING Wallace: ~~~ No birth certificate available, DOB is uncertain/unknowable. Thelma believed that she was 21 when she married ~1938. She was certain she wasborn in Bell, FL. Thelma was moved to an orphange after her mother died and her (abusive)father remarried when she was a teenager or pre-teen. She did not begin elementary school until this time, but quickly caught up and graduated only a year or two off the "normal" track (~18 years old). She married around 1938 and her first child, LIVING Wallace, was born shortly after. The family moved to Newport News or Hampton, Virginia during World War II, as her husband had a degree in aeronautics and worked on military programs. The couple divorced around 1945, when Thelma'syoungest child was an infant. Her husband moved to La Jolla, CA (possible still under military work) with the three older children. Thelma moved to Coshocton, OH and lived with a friend. While there, she met Walter Kent. The three would drive to La Jolla ~1945, with Walter and Thelma marrying en route, and return to Ohio with all of Thelma's children. The four children were raised in Ohio. Thelma and Walter did not have children. Thelma died of ovarian cancer in 1969. ~~~
