  According to LIVING Wallce, granddaughter of this man (they never met),he was charactered by his daughter Thelma as an abusive "drunk" who worked for "the railroad". After Thelma's mother died, he married the "town whore", who also abused the children. Ultimately, the children weredriven into orphanages as teenagers or pre-teens. Grady apparently hassores on his legs that would not heal, possibily indicating that Gradyhad diabetes.
