Note: Ruth Maxine Cooper, "My mother (Gertrude) always contributed to the economic welfare of the family by raising chickens, turkeys, ducks or such. At times she took eggs to Josehpine Haws' house for her to hatch the eggs. (Josephine is the grandmother of Kato Devar Haws). One day somone stole some turkeys. Gertrude reported it to the police. A sheriff showed up at the house and was accosted by my brother, Howard who was just a little boy at the time. Howard confronted the sheriff saying, "Mister, are you the one who stole my mama's turkeys?". 25 March 2010 Interview conducted by Wallace R. Haws, son of Maxine.
