Notes
a. Note:   Taken from "John Henry Cooper and Gertrude Luveda Clevenger" written by Brenda Hertzberg
It is hard to prove the exact year and place of Andrew's birth. Andrew would have been 10 to 12 years old when the Civil War started. The rough terrain of the Ozark region of southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas was not adaptable to large farming operations and it was mainly an area of small farms and few slaveholders. After the Civil war was over, Andrew married Nancy Emeline Peyton and Augst 6, 1867. Nancy died in 1874 after giving birth to their 3rd child which also died. In 1880 Andrew married Sarah Jane Odell. When Andrew and Sarah were living near Witts Springs, Arkansas elders from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints contacted them. At the time Andrew was an Elder in the Campbellite Church (now the Church of Christ). They soon left the area due to persecution against Mormons. Andrew moved his family to Overton Nevada where they received considerable help from the Mendis Diego Cooper family. One of the sons, John Henry Cooper, eventually married Andrew's daughter Gertrude. Andrew was married 4 different times and died in Mesa, Arizona at 87 years old in 1938.
