Note:   Born at 46 Rothes Road, Dorking, Surrey. 1935 diary shows living at 82 Hillside, Moulescoombe, Brighton 1936 diary shows move to Three Bridges on 12 Oct. 1937 diary shows a further move to 95 Hazelwick Road, Three Bridges on 1 May. 17 Jan 1938 - Started work at Three Bridges Ticket Office. Worked at various locations, including Hasocks, Horsham Goods, "The Dyke", Merton Abbey Goods, Croydon Goods, Leatherhead Goods 20 Jul 1938 - Moved to Motspur Park. Seems to work permanently at Leatherhead Goods. 12 Apr 1939 - Transferred to (Passenger) Train Running Section, London Bridge. Sept 1939 - Office moved to Croydon/Redhill around the outbreak of war. 1940 diary gives details of air raids etc. 1941/2 diaries missing. Conscripted into Army 17 Jul 1941. Demobilised 19 Sep 1946. 1943 diary gives address as: HQ, 29th Independent Brigade, c/o APO 1800. Regimental no: T/275154. 1943: Stationed in Durban, South Africa 9 Jan 1943 - Set sail on "City of London". Arrive Bombay, India on 25 Jan. Move up to Pashan Camp, Kirkee on 27 Jan. Moved several times to Mahableshwar, Poona, Dagshai, Batnargiri, Lonand, Alibag. 1944/5 diaries missing. 1946: Start year on home leave. Returns to camp near Gravesend/Wrotham. 9 Aug 1946 - Transfer to War Office: Camp Commandant's Pay Section (but not for long - see below!) 12 Aug 1946 - Transfer to RASC, Kensington. 19 Sep 1946 - Demobbed. 28 Oct 1946 - Resumes railway career at Redhill. Died at 5 Kipling Close, Pound Hill, Crawley, West Sussex.
