a. Note:   According to the Monmouthshire 1861 census, in the registration District in Bedwelty, sub district Tredegar John Cummins Rhymney. Ellen was 14 at the time. PRO 4001 79 05. 1870 Luzerne County census indicates Ellen was 22 and born in Wales. St. Joseph's of Minooka Church records reflect Patrick Sullivan and Ellen Cummings children's baptisms. The family house was 108 and 110 E. High Street Taylor. 1900 census reports Ellen as being born March 1850 50 years old with 15/11 children, 8 of the children were still at home. She was born in Wales and parents in Ireland. Living with Patrick and Ellen were Norah 23, Andrew 22, Loretta 19, Joseph 18, Kate 14, Cecila 12, Bessie 10 and Edward 6. Living next door to the Sullivan family was the Stanton family; John and Margaret Sullivan married Stanton sister and brother 1910 Lackawanna Census indicates Ellen was head of the house and at the time she was 69 years old. She had 15 children and 11 had lived. She and her parents were born in Wales.: living at home was daughter Bessie 20, son Edward 17; son in law Edward Davis 26 and Cecilia 22, they were married 2 years no children. 1920 Federal census indicates Ellen was living at 110 E. High Street with Katherine Griffin her daughter who was a widow at 25 years old and Katherine's daughter Mildred Griffin who at the time was 9 years old. Obituary January 6, 1927 indicates Ellen died January 5 at her home 110 E. High St. Taylor following The Obituary stated " Mrs. Ellen Sullivan aged 80 years for more than sixty two years a resident of Taylor borough and one of the best known and most highly respected women in lower Lackawanna county died yesterday morning at her home. Mrs. Sullivan, familiarly known to hundreds of men, women and children throughout Taylor borough as "Grandmother" is also survived by the large total of fifty grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She had been a devout member of The Church of the Immaculate Conception since it establishment in Taylor. Ellen Sullivan will filed in Lackawanna County # 126 year 1927 mentions daughters; Loretta Weiss of Philadelphia; Cecilia Davis of Taylor; Bessie Lynch of Taylor; Kathryn Griffin of Taylor to share and share alike. Mentions her grand daughter Mildred Griffin; daughter Ellen Shields of Pittsburgh, PA; Daughter Mary Stanton of Taylor; John Sullivan of Taylor; Andrew Sullivan of Scranton; deceased son Edward Sullivan and his family Helen Sullivan, Doris Sullivan and Edna Sullivan. High St. Taylor, PA died January 5, 1927. She was a widow her husband Patrick SULLIVAN. She was about 76 born in PA (about 82 born in Wales). Her parents were John CUMMINS (CUMMINGS) and Ellen O'BRIEN both born in Ireland. The informant was Mrs. Kathryn GRIFFIN of the same address. She was interred in St. Joseph's Cemetery Minooka January 8, 1927. High St. Taylor following an illness of over one year. Surviving are the following sons and daughters; John of Taylor; Andrew of Scranton; Mrs. P.J. STANTON, Mrs. Catherine C. GRIFFIN, Mrs. Edward DAVIS all of Taylor; Mrs. James WEISS of Philadelphia; Mrs. John LYNCH of Rendham; three brothers and one sister Richard CUMMINGS and Michael CUMMINGS of Taylor; Andrew CUMMINGS of Buffalo, NY; Mrs. Catherine COLEMAN of Scranton. Obituary further stated she was known as the grandmother of Taylor leaving 50 grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Taylor. Casket bearers were John (James) WEISS,Edward DAVIS, Patrick J. STANTON, Patrick SULLIVAN and John CUMMINGS.
