Obituary for George James Price Services for George James Price, 77, were held Tuesday November 1, at 2:00 pm, in the Clagg Funeral Home Chapel , with Rev. Jim House officiating. He died Sunday , October 30. Born November 14, 1899 in the Iona community, Mr Price had lived in the Sulphur area most of his life. He was a retired peace officer and a member of the Baptist Church. Mr. Price was married to the former Myrtle Calame Dark, who preceded him in Death Sept 18,1975. Surviving are a Step daughter Norma Yarabrough, Garland Texas. Charles W. Dark, Portales, New Mexico. John W. DarkDuncan, Davey Dark. Garland Texas and Robert L. Dark. Norman Oklahoma. One brother Frank Price,Rockland Ca. One sister Effie Sutter Kansas and several Grandchildren. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of the Clagg Funeral Home. George was a Police Officer for Lexington , Oklahoma in 1957. Found the following article in the newspaper dated 1965 An ex-Boley man, reportedly shot while resisting arrest succumbed to his wounds Thursday in an Oklahoma City hospital. Isaiah C. Young , who recently had been working in Wichita Kansas was shot three times by Paden deputy, George Price. The incident occurred early Sunday morning , April 14 near Paden. Witnesses to the incident said the shooting was justifiable. They reported that Young had parked his car crosswise on US 62 and was blocking traffice. When Price attempted to arrest Young the ex-Boley man resisted and became beligerent. Price had no choice other than to shoot the man, the witness said. George ran for Sheriff of , Lincon County Oklahoma The following letter was written to me by His Stepson George had some good qualities, but he could do more damage on a 3 day drunk than most men could do in a life time. He was a loving man to our mother. The bottle was his downfall. He was as healthy as a horse untill my mother died and it took him about 2 yrs to drink himself to death. It is sad that he died this way.
