Margaret's father is identified as John DAVIES, Carpenter. Margaret DAVIES, age 12, is enumerated as the eldest of five children of John and Louisa DAVIES, on the Census of 1841 for Cenarth, Carmarthenshire. John's occupation is Carpenter. (Per Marriage Certificate and Census of 1881). RESIDENCE: Aug 1879 through 8 June 1881, 4 Margaret Street, Aberdare, Wales home of Catherine's parents, John and Margaret Davies GEORGE and Catherine's younger siblings, Thomas and Louisa. On 16 Nov 1879 Catherine gave birth to James John Phillips, first of eleven children, at this address. On 3 May 1881 Catherine gave birth to Thomas William Phillips at #4 Margaret St. Thomas's birth was registered on 8 June 1881. RESIDENCE after May 1881 and before 31 Dec 1881, 4 Margaret Street, Aberdare. Prior to the birth of the third child, Humphrey, on 6 Dec 1882, Catherine and her husband and sons James and Thomas, emigrated to Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. RESIDENCE: 1900 through March 1925. HIBBARD, Jr., age, 9; Katherine HIBBARD, age 6, Catherine GEORGE PHILLIPS, age 68; Emanuel PHILLIPS, age 40; Humphrey PHILLIPS (brother of Catherine PHILLIPS HIBBARD), age 47 and Humphrey's wife Margaret HIBBARD PHILLIPS (sister of John J. HIBBARD). DIED:19 Dec. 1935. Catherine died in the home of her daughter, Sarah PHILLIPS BRYAN at 26 Regina St. Lee Park after becoming ill in September. Prior to the visit with Sarah, Catherine had resided at 30 E Main St. Wanamie (see above). The Obituary from the Wilkes-Barre Record states that Catherine was "...mother of one of Newport Township's most prominent families..." that she had resided in Wanamie for 45 years, was a member of the Wanamie Methodist-Episcopal Church and Ladies Aid Society. Note: John D. and Catherine GEORGE PHILLIPS emigrated from Wales in 1881. Their Obituaries agree that they took up residence in Wanamie, Newport Township in 1890. Their place of residence between arrival in the USA in 1881 and the establishment of a residence in Wanamie in 1890 is unknown but it is likely that upon arrival from Wales in about 1882, John and his family joined John's parents and his sisters in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
