a. Note:   att, Sr. and Claudia Valentine Brooks Spratt. He retired from Hickory Construction Company, where he worked as a superintendent of bridge and culvert construction. He was known as the best culvert man in North Carolina. Also known: "When Spratt poured, it never rained." After his retirement, he sold plants from his green house for 15 years. He was a WWII Marine veteran, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church where he was church secretary for over 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Spratt, Grady Spratt, and Kirby McFarland, and two sisters, Creola Spratt and Pauline Spratt Pollard. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bertie Lowery Spratt of the home; one son, Don Spratt of Ellenboro; two daughters, Debbie Toney of Ellenboro, and Patsy Andrews of Bostic; one brother, Raleigh M. Spratt of Ellenboro; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Corinth Baptist Church with the Revs. David Jendry, Ad Hopper, and Linda Ferguson-Allen officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home. (Obituary from the Forest City Courier)
