Notes
a. Note:   Find A Grave Memorial# 29357944 he has to be one of these children: Diary of Rev. James Thomas WARD (1820-1897) (Westminster, MD) 7 Apr 1891 [Baltimore] In the afternoon baptized two children of my nephew Dr. Norment. occupation: clerk. His inability to support his family during the Depression brought on a stroke. He sent thousands of application letters all over the country for years, to no avail. Sadie ran a boarding house during this time to support them. Apparently they looked down on his choice not as an occupation but because he chose not to go to college, as was expected and as all his siblings did. He paid dear for that choice. reel T1050.83, MD 1900 soundex, N655 (mixed codes) vol. 19 ED 214 sheet 12, line 35 City of Baltimore, 3543 Chestnut Avenue NORMENT, R. B., Nov 1858, D.C. Morning in drive with my niece Mrs. Dr. R. B. Norment and her little daughter Ada and son Louis Tiffany. She told me more than I knew before of the circumstances under which my dear sister Margaret Anne (Mrs. R. B. N.) and her daughters Beall and Janie (Mrs. Packwood) removed from Florida to Hampden, Md. Where they have been residing for some months. Bro. R. B. N. who is still in Washington has not even visited them since they removed to Hampden, although he met them at Alexandria, Va. And rode with in the car as far as Washington when they were en route from Florida. My dear sister has had a wonderful life of changes (many of them distressingly painful) since her marriage in her immature womanhood to the man of her choice, who seemed to be a very noble man, but has proved to be, of late years, a man of strange insensibility to his obligations.
