Won the captain's prize in 1921, this was a big silver cup with a golfer statuette swinging on the lid. It disappeared during the move to Australia, along with the wonderful carved oak mantleclock with Westminster chimes, made by the old joiner at the Mill as a wedding present for my parents. Died aged 40 of colon cancer. I remember him at the bedroom window shortly before he died telling me always to keep a straight bat (I was in the garden playing cricket, aged 9.) Note: Educated at a boarding school in Blackpool called Arnold House. Worked
