a. Note:   the summit of Alkrington Green near Middleton where she kept a live-in maid (Agnes Jones from Brymbo, near Wrexham in the 1920s), and played golf and bridge at the Golf Club at Hopwood Hall. In 1930 when her husband died she took her son (me) then aged 9 to live in Newquay Cornwall with her Auntie Annie (McGregor/Needham). After a couple of years she married again and we went to live at 40, Station Approach, Wembley, Middlesex, near Sudbury Town Underground station. She spent the war there and later moved to a bungalow near Wembley where she remained until her death of liver cancer. Number 2 Station Approach was flattened by a bomb, but number 40 was spared.
