Note: (Information provided by daughter Mary Lou[ise] Chumlea Armitage) - During World War I when his children were still quite young, Cas and his family lived in Ft. Knox, KY, where he was in the U.S. Cavalry. After the war, they traveled through Georgia and Florida living in converted railroad boxcars (provided by his employer) as he worked building roads and causeways. They eventually settled in Stuart, FL, where they lived until the children graduated from high school. During this time, Cas worked in real estate until the depression killed the business, and they decided to return to Tennessee. On their return, they settled in Knoxville where Cas was for many years a prominent Deputy Sheriff, investigator, and finger print expert with the Knoxville, TN, police department.
