Notes
a. Note:   N38 Death certificate lists J. C. Ware, her husband, as her father, and her father, P.B. Visage as her mother. It also lists her father's birthplace as South Carolina. Census records list father's birth place as Georgia and mother as South Carolina. In 1910, she is living with her son Howard, grandchildren Ethel A. and Dora B. Ware (daughters of Homer Virgil) at 207 See St. Brownwood. Next door is her daughter Eunice A. who is married to John N. Jones.
b. Note:   N682 In 1913 S. L. E Ware made an application for a pension as a widow of a CSA veteran. Her application shows that they were married in Crawford County, Georgia on 29 June 1865 and moved to Texas in January, 1886. She is listed as age 66 on 5 Jan 1913 which would make her birth year 1847 instead of 1846 as shown on census and tombstone. An affidavit indicates that she assessed $0 on the land and personal property rolls in Brown County. CSA pension application is at the Texas State Library and Archives.
